Since Santa is just around the corner and I am sure all of you are gearing up to kick off your lavish shopping this Black Friday. This busiest retail shopping day of the year is all about massive crowd, long queues, fulsome shopping of the well-known brand items at rock bottom prices. I personally think it’s the best time to give gifts to show gratitude towards your loved ones. So, why not gift something that makes a difference, something that emphasizes on good deeds rather than just stuff. Take the Black Friday off and look towards Green Gift Monday on 29 November.
The Nature Conservancy, the leading conservation agency in the world has launched Green Gift Monday, a new program that is an alternative to Cyber Monday, the Internet version of Black Friday. Last year on Cyber Monday, consumers spent nearly $890 million dollars online. Even if a fraction of that was spent on eco-friendly, meaningful holiday gifts, it would make a great difference to ‘Mother Nature.’ The Nature Conservancy is promoting green, responsible gifts like energy-efficient products, donating to charity, recycled wrapping etc. Our eco-conscious readers can also support this green effort using the hash tag #GGM2010.
