Green Queen inspires kids to create mural with recycled bottle caps

ferranti martin recycled bottle caps mural

Recycling was never as meaningful as it has gotten to be at the Ventnor Elementary School. As Ferranti-Martin, the art teacher, creates an amazing mural from discarded bottle caps, the kids follow her closely; in fact, they contribute in whatever way they could. Collecting the bottle caps, erecting the canvas, and filling the spots on canvas with a matching colored cap: they do all sorts of things for her. As a result, the colorful mural is speckled with 7,000 caps that are glued to a canvas.

I love inspiring the kids. It’s their world, and they live in it. If they know they’re producing trash, that’s the world they’re going to be living in.

While saying so, Ferranti-Martin hopes that the kids might get the secreted implication of her words. Though they hardly realize how they are evolving through it all, they will become more eco-sensible than they were ever before.
