Brian Hess, founder of hydrogen fuel company Hessgen, mixed race fuel with hydrogen to power a 700hp Trophy Truck on the roughest 500-mile off road race, known as the Baja 500. His hydrogen-powered #88 features a hydrogen system located on the top rear section of the truck, which braved an impact-rollover crash during the race but never succumbed to it. Even after the vehicle had flipped within the first few miles, both Hess and the hydrogen system survived.
The Trophy truck #88 did 500 brutal miles in just over 21 hours and 40 minutes later without rest, burned considerably less fuel and registered tremendously with reduced carbon emissions. The result also furthered Hess’s vision that the Hessgen-On-Demand system is not only safe, but available and ready to be introduced to the market.
