Despite earning ill-repute for the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the BP America has geared up to emerge on the green scene again. Just recently, it aided Ignacio Intermediate School with $10,000 in funds to run a solar car project for the sixth-graders. Under the able guidance of their teacher Tom Rohde, the students have modded their toy cars with solar panels. Right now, kids are readying themselves and their solar-powered allies for a race and tractor pull that takes place this Monday.

The strangely green re-purposing is inspiring school kids to put forth their creativity. Large rubber wheels come in for right balance as school teacher Rohde keeps instructing them every now and then. He has been helping them to fetch solar supplies, such as 1.5 volts solar panels. School’s fourth-graders are also following their seniors’ footsteps as they build Lego sets powered by solar or wind energy.
