Cities are getting more congested with factories, vehicles and inhabitants. One of the major harmful consequences is air pollution. People are on the lookout for technologies and gadgets to purify air for clean breathing. This article sheds light on some eco-friendly gadgets and technologies to purify air indoors. However, most of the technologies are just concepts and haven’t come into mass production yet.
1. Air Purifier by Mathew Scholes
Different from traditional air purifiers, designer Mathew Scholes has conceptualized a device to sanitize the air in a room. The gadget has three levels of the air cleaning process. In the first level, a mesh HEPA filter captures dust and other air-borne particles and allergens. In the second level, the device turns on a photocatalytic UV filter that kill germs and zaps other organic compounds in the air. In the final level, it works to improve the quality of air.
2. Breath air purifier by Zhe Zhang
Passive smoking is as dangerous as active smoking. But quite often people ignore the seriousness of passive smoking. Zhe Zhang has conceived an air purifier called ‘Breath’. The machine can be placed in a house or office so as to get rid of the hazards of smoking. The device has colored displays to show the status of smoking and a special button to clean the air.
3. GreenAir, a natural way for air purification
GreenAir is an air purifier technology designed by Sherly Gunawan of LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. As its name indicates, GreenAir is a completely natural way to purify air. It has been developed using plants that have the ability to absorb air contaminants via their leaves and roots. The plants that soak up more pollutants in the gestation period are employed in the system.
4. FLO2 Air Purifier by Olivia Bradateanu
FLO2 Air Purifier is a technology that traps particles in the air to provide clean air to its users. The device has been developed by designer Olivia Bradateanu. FLO2 Air Purifier is so small that users can carry and place it in their office or bedroom both to know the status of air pollution, and for purification.
5. Andrea air purifier by Harvard designers
Andrea is another natural method to purify air. This eco-friendly air purifier makes use of some common plants to clean the air in a room or office space. Harvard designers David Edwards and Mathieu Lehanneur have worked on the Andrea air purifier.
6. Aura Organic Air Filtration by Ben McGinley
Traditional air purifiers need electricity for functioning. But innovative concepts like the Aura Organic Air Filtration do not require electric power. They also protect the environment. Instead of fans and pumps, Aura air purifier from Ben McGinley makes use of plants to clean the air. The designer has well identified the fact that plants are natural filters of chemicals, germs and organic compounds in the air.
7. Oxygen of Green, natural furniture for fresh air
Apart from being an air purifier, Oxygen of Green from industrial designer Mingling Wang is a completely eco-friendly furniture concept for home. The furniture set consists of a table for the living room, with Air Plants that can absorb contaminants in the air. The plants take up CO2 and generate fresh oxygen at night. As a result, inhabitants of the house receive fresh air for breathing.
8. Breathe Easy by Paul Thomas
Designer Paul Thomas has developed the concept of Breath Easy. It is an effort to freshen up the air in oneâs living room and office space using some air pollutant-absorbing plants. Along with the plants, Mr. Thomas has implanted a row of LED lights, which will enhance the beauty of the room. The plants are capable of soaking up toxins and contaminates in the air with their natural abilities.
9. O2 air purifier by Tian Lingrui
O2 air purifier is an innovative system by designer Tian Lingrui to boost up the photosynthetic capacity of plants. The conceptual air purifier accelerates the ability of a plant placed in a particular tray to produce more oxygen and to take up more CO2 in return.
10. Window as an air purifier by Jae Han
Korean designer Jae Han has conceptualized a method to purify air in winter seasons. During winters, people keep the windows and doors locked up, blocking the free circulation of fresh air indoors. But Jae Hanâs technology makes the âwindowâ an air purifier, with a transparent LCD interface that shows the status of air pollution in the room.
11. Paralda air purifier by Alen Corporation
Alen Corporationâs Paralda air purifier is also a great option for use in winters. Since inhabitants often choose to lock all their ventilation during winters, Paralda air purifier will ensure fresh air in a room. Paralda makes use of HEPA filter, advanced UV and light touch activation controls for functioning.
12. The Daan Air purifier by Joseph Kim
The Daan is a small and portable air purifier from designer Joseph Kim. You can carry the disk sized machine in your backpack and use in offices and house. Daan is capable to absorb the hazardous participles and organic components in the air.
