Wind chimes enhance the look of the house as well as give a melodious clinking sound. Every wind chime sound different depending on the size and number of rods. You could get a variety of wind chimes from the market, or utilize your own creativity and skills to make wind chimes for yourself. Here are some ideas you could use:
Sea glass wind chime
This chime can be made using colorful glass pebbles right from the ocean. If you have a hobby of collecting these glass pebbles, then you can very well convert them into colorful looking wind chimes. Moreover, they are light enough to sway as the wind blows giving a sweet clinking sound.
Color key wind chime
This is a lovely idea even your kids can try. You could also gift it to someone for their house warming party. Unused keys often find place in trash bins. A small cleaning, coloring and arranging can transform those rusted trash keys into an elegant wind chime. All you need is five keys (minimum), driftwood or stick, string and paint. Simply clean and paint the keys and stick. Tie the pieces to the string in a manner that they hang at different levels. Tie the other part of the string to the stick and your wind chime is ready.
Industrial wind chime
As the name suggests, you can make a wind chime using old and unused industrial waste. The items needed for these include fishing line, bike cassette and a string. The process is simple. First, separate each piece of cassette and clean them. Then tie one end of the string to the cassette firmly. The length of the string should be such that they are present at different levels. Once attached, using the strings assemble them in such a way that you can hang them on the hook of the ceiling or on your window.
Ombre can wind chimes
These look good on bigger windows or outside gardens, since they are a bit bigger in size. Used or throw away metal cans can be used for this purpose.
As the first step, remove the opening of the can, wash them and dry thoroughly. You would need at least five cans for making the chimes. Drill hole at the bottom of the cans. Paint them and let it dry. You should use at least 4-5 coats of the paint. Start arranging the cans from top to bottom, beginning with the largest at the top. String them vertically and keep them intact using a wooden ring at the end of the string. Decide the height of the chime and hang it at the desired place.
