Embassy of Drowned Nations is an artificial island concept proposed for Fort Denison in Sydney, Australia, which aims to provide a sustainable, temporary shelter to those displaced by rising sea levels. Created by the Australian firm Oculus for Sea Change 2030+, the floating refuge will sink deeper into Sydney Harbour with increase in water levels. Thus, the inverted design will expose further land on the island.
Oculus further hopes that relocated people will inhabit the newly exposed land, where they can pull through from physical and emotional loss. The sufferers, being the inseparable parts of the Australian society, will see a Climate Change Institute and Research Center sprouting on the shared lands.
