Love for the environment knows no bounds and people can go till any extent to prove or show it. Pantene is famous for its hair products that vow to make even a dead strand shine like a precious gem. The company Proctor and Gamble that makes these hair care products is out to make the environment shine with its efforts as well. The containers that the products get packed in will be now made out of plant-based plastic. These will be shipped for the first time ever to all stores across Western Europe.
The use of sugarcane will cut down on the fossil-fuel consumed by the company almost by 70%. Such a practice of making plant-based plastic will further decrease the greenhouse-gas emissions by a good 170%, which is nothing but incredible. The containers look like normal packages and it is hard to distinguish them. The only slight difference they carry is the additional green label which yells it is nothing but clean and green.
Sugarcane by-products that are hardly put to use have been used in an apt manner. With their help energy is produced that is further used to run these new containers in an eco-friendly manner. Pantene vows to swap all the normal bottles with this eco-friendly plastic in the coming 18 months and sell it across 180 countries the product is available in.
Though initially this will be a little expensive but as the technology becomes more accepted it will slice down all costs. Back in the year 2007 PG divulged its sustainability strategies and they pledged to somehow perk up in the subsequent five years a minimum billion lives. This step will make the company stick to its dreams and will be a step ahead in protecting the environment.
According to Pantene,
It is an investment to be at the forefront and as the technology becomes more mainstream [costs will decrease]. As the world’s biggest hair care brand, we need to be there first. We are responsible for healthy hair and also a healthy world.
