safeplug 1
A US company is working on bringing the energy efficient SafePlug system within the common user reach using pay-per-use system. The system allows the users to access SafePlug for easily recharging their devices by using prepaid plastic card or key fob. The SafePlug power outlet systems are well known for their energy saving credentials. These detect overloads at the outlet level to avoid damage to the device and also prevent energy loss due to overcharging.

The cards or fobs would be available at the front counter of the business or at kiosks, and each one could be of 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes in duration. 20 minutes of charging time would cost the user US$1 whereas the outlet’s operating cost has been estimated at 12 cents per kWh.
