Comprising of eight living biomes that envelope a large central biome, the Sub-Biosphere 2 project takes the original Biosphere 2 to another level of absolute greenness. Designed by UK-based designer Phil Pauley, the self-sustainable underwater habitat serves aquanauts, tourism, oceanographic life sciences, and long-term human, plant and animal habitation in the same way.
The Sub-Biosphere 2, being a virtual seed bank, allows human, plant and fresh water interaction and monitors all life support systems for air, water, food, electricity, and other resources while controlling variant atmospheric pressures in deep marines. Not only does the system remain floating, it could submerge into the ocean.
