As the day of the pontiff’s visit to Malta is drawing near, people of Malta are doing their best to make it big and green. During the weekend’s Papal visit, the three grandstands will be covered with an engineered sheeting panel developed from layers of recycled wood strands. Each of these strands made from recycled material is about one centimeter wide by 15 centimeters long.
In the Granaries in Floriana, Valletta Waterfront and Rabat, the stages will utilize over 3,000 sheets of recycled chipboard. The Pope will also be given a silver statuette representing Christ the King, which was created by Maltese artist Christopher Ebejer.
