This is the era of clubbing and partying. People come around to party together at least once in a week. It can be birthday party, baby shower, get together party, reunion, wedding showers, bachelorette party etc. Party time is all fun and excitement. But, have you ever thought about the waste that gets accumulated after the party?
Especially, the danglers and streamers used in the party for decorating add a lot of color and liveliness to the party. These paper products are just used once only. And, after that, these usually find place in the waste basket. As you all are aware that deforestation has taken over the planet and very few measures are taken to plant new trees.
If these trees fall short in number, the availability of paper will also reduce to zero in the long run. As sensible citizens, we need to take measures against such huge wastes. If you are waiting for someone to do it, the initiative has already begun and all you need to do is follow and spread it worldwide.
Event Planning is one of the booming industries now. An idea of such kind emerged in the creative minds of the Matthew Parker Events. They created a dazzling and eye-catching room fit for party for a non-profit arts group called Arts Fund in Seattle. Arts Fund conducted their annual party at the Experience Music Project.
The highlight of the party was not the guests, drinks, food or the decoration. The streamers captured the eyes and ears of every guest in the party. Why? The streamers were not just ordinary colored papers but they were recycled newsletters from the office of Arts Fund hung on a mono filament line from the balcony to the stage.
Over 1,000 paper airplanes were made using these recycled newsletters and were used for decoration. The guests could not help, but lifted their heads up and stare at the streamers lined above. Matthew Parker of the event company drew inspiration from a local company called Boeing and one of the biggest contributors to Arts Fund in building these airplane shaped streamers from used newsletters.
An initiative of such kind should be highly appreciated and taken up by other event planners as well. After all the very use of decorating the party with lights, streamers and glitters, is to make a good impression of yourself on the people. And using recycled materials of these kind in the party will take that impression to the next level.
This can also make the guests think and realize about the amount of paper they are wasting just for the sake of a few high praises from their friends and family. An initiative of this will make a platform for more praises and will set an example for others to follow. Let’s do this and help our earth to move towards death!
