Just recently, the Roskilde University, Denmark, announced Henning Larsen Architects as winner of the international competition for designing the Campus Roskilde at the University College Sealand. The proposed 14,000-m2 campus will include four square buildings with rotated positions to ensure sufficient daylight and optimize the energy consumption of the campus as well. The rotated position also makes sure that the Roskilde University Center (RUC) remains shielded from the motorway and direct pollution.

The perfectly modifiable buildings could be put to varied uses in future. Revolving around the theme of ‘Many minds – one pulse’, a roofed square – sheltered by the main building – will create an open space for students. Once the campus is completed by 2012, it will run professional bachelor’s programs covering social education and social work, health and teaching.
