Metlife Stadium in USA
Metlife Stadium is home to both the Ney York Giants and the New York Jets that was constructed in 2010 with the aim of becoming a green stadium. The stadium has the reduction in energy consumption of about 30% due various initiatives. The annual demand of water by the stadium is reduced by 25% through water efficient plumbing. An automatic lighting control system is installed in the stadium that contributes in minimizing energy consumption. The windows have been coated with low E coating that reduces about 24% of heat gain.
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
Lincoln Financial Field is a football that was opened in 2003 in Philadelphia. The venue of the games was made from recycled paper. The stadium consists of 11,000 onsite solar panels and 14 onsite wind turbines making it the first stadium of US known for generating its electricity of its own. All the tissue paper products have been converted to 100 percent post consumer recycled paper saving 10 tons of paper.
National Park, Washington Nationals
The famous baseball stadium National Park, located in Washington, D.C opened in 2008 has been awarded LEED Sliver Certification for the green building. It is the first stadium known to install green roof and the construction was completed using 95 percent-recycled steel. With the use of energy, conserving light fixtures there is 21 percent of energy consumption.
Century Link field in Seattle
Century Link Field is known as one of the energy efficient stadiums due to initiatives taken to reduce energy consumption. Use of lightning controls in restrooms, concession stands and storage spaces helps in cutting down the energy consumption. The installation of low flow water fixtures saves about 1.3 million gallon of water.
Soldier field Chicago
Soldier Field is the only NFL stadium to be designated as LEED certification with free charging stations that encourages the use of electric vehicles that do not cause carbon emissions. The field’s traditional lightning has been replaced with LED lights.
