Studio Shed, a Colorado-based company is all geared up to install its first prefabricated structure in Palo Alto. Two people who wanted an addition to their small home without having to part with their outdoor living space started the company in 2009. Ever since the company came into existence, the duo has been building small but smart spaces that embrace the emerging contemporary lifestyle. This time around, the small shed is being built on the property of a 1955 Eichler home in Palo Alto.

The new Studio Shed that will be built in the backyard of Yang family will incorporate many green features. The duo that believes in living smarter rather than living bigger will use various green building materials to create prefabricated panels. The green features include FSC-certified dimensional lumber, recycled aluminum-frame windows and HardieBacker siding, Low-VOC paint. The structure is to keep the footprint as low as possible. Studio Shed models start at $4900 and could be used as an office, an art studio, a kid’s playroom, or simply a place to store a mountain bike.
