Balck and White Twins were designed by Casanova and Heranadez Architects. The Black and white Twins are divided into two parts and the exterior part of the buildings contains an outer black skin perforated with windows that wrap the interior of the building. The open air spaces are painted white.
Bondy
Bondy planned by Gurein and Pedroza’s with an aim to make the area dense that originally had an isolated environment. The material used for construction is timber and each unit of the building has its individual terrace, balcony, garden. It features solar panels and rainwater collection system that helps in keeping the cost low.
60 Richmond Street East
Designed for the residents of Toronto, the building aims to provide an economical place for the people. The building has been planned keeping in mind the requirement of low maintenance cost by using energy saving strategies and using recycled materials in construction. It also includes operated restaurant and training kitchen at the ground floor. The sixth floor terrace holds a garden to allow growing vegetables and fruits.
13 Rue Legendre
13 Rue Legendre was originally the site of a music and dance school that was converted to 10 affordable housing units. Avenier Cornejo architects designed the building with dark steel, giving it an distinct appearance from the other buildings. The buildings consists of metal panels that act as a shutter that helps in the management of the sunlight maintaining the thermal level, hence lowering energy requirements.
26th Street affordable housing
The design of the 26th street affordable housing draws its inspiration from Southern California’s famed tradition of modernism. It is a 44-unit apartment, which comprises of laminated windows on both the sides of the street to diminish traffic noise. The living space has been built in a linear fashion offering cross ventilation and provides a cooling technique eliminating the use of air conditioning on the rooftop.
