Conceived by Bartlett School of Architecture graduate Richard Hardy, the Transcendental City is a futuristic city that utilizes artificial intelligence to support human existence and various eco-systems of the planet. The autonomous city counts on renewable sources of energy for sustenance and speedy renovation of wrecks induced by unforeseen environmental dangers. A sustainable city – a huge machine in itself – talks of a time when artificial intelligence will supersede human wisdom.
Hardy believes that the city could draw on the famous Gaia Hypothesis to help in maintaining homeostasis within itself and the greater system. A set of molecular computers will assist in analyzing the environment, and, accordingly, it will utilize nano technologies to control the various processes of the automated city of the future.
