University students create water-soluble wedding dress

dissolvable wedding dress

What in your opinion is the most symbolic garment in a woman’s wardrobe? Her wedding gown, but of course. But unfortunately this beautiful dress is used only once and faces the challenges of throwaway fashion. Breaking this notion are a few fashion and engineering students at Sheffield Hallam University who have created a wedding dress that can be reused. The dress is made from material that contains biodegradable polyvinyl alcohol, which enables it to be transformed into five different fashion garments by simply pouring water over it.

This innovative garment will have a minimal impact on the environment. The stunning gown will be featured in a forthcoming exhibition, titled, “A Sustainable Marriage,” which will be shown at the university later this month. Though this green dress makes perfect attire for your wedding, it certainly comes with a warning: It can easily fall apart if it rains on your big day, so watch out, ladies.
