As many as 59 World Car jurors representing 25 countries from around the world gathered yet again to announce the 2010 World Car Of The Year. The car that was picked came as no surprise because as always the entry that was chosen was something cheap, small and economical. The jury gave away the award to the Volkswagen’s BlueMotion brand. The Golf, Passat, and Polo models that fall under the brand have been known to have ultra efficient and relatively clean burning diesel engines.

Competing with 30 vehicles, the Volkswagen BlueMotion lineup succeeded in reaching the finals giving a tough competition to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Toyota Prius. The World Car of The Year organization declared he Volkswagen BlueMotion product brand as 2010 World Green Car of the Year. Based on Volkswagen’s common-rail diesel engines, the BlueMotion models are among the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market. Walter de’Silva, head of design for Volkswagen Group was proud to hold the trophy at this year’s New York International Auto Show on Thursday morning.
