Monaco-based yacht maker Wally in collaboration with Paris-based fashion house Hermès present a yacht that is a depiction of luxury and sustainability. Dubbed the “WHY 37×24,” the $62 million, solar-powered mega-yacht was unveiled last week. No prizes for guessing that it’s 37 meters long (121 feet) and 24 meters wide (79 feet), its name says it all. A diesel-electric engine and 390 square meters of rooftop solar panels are used to power the luxurious green rider.

The WHY 37×24 has a hull design due to which it requires less power at cruising speed than a boat of equal size. The engine and solar panels can bring down energy consumption by up to 30 percent for propulsion and 50 percent for generation. It would give you the feeling of living on an island, enjoying your share of freedom and peace. It is said to be a smaller version of its bigger brother, the $160 million WHY 58×38, the design of which was unveiled in September and is on display this week at the Abu Dhabi yacht show.
