Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd has developed a digital power supply module for Clear Sodick, a Japan-based LED lighting manufacturer. Murata’s multi-layer ceramic capacitor can be incorporated in a straight tube-type LED lamp to work as the input and output capacitors of the power supply module.
The module supports voltages of AC100V and AC200V and when compared with an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, the MLCC makes a power supply module smaller besides increasing its life. Murata Manufacturing used a digital signal processor with a switching frequency of about 200 kHz as a microcontroller for constant current control of LED lamps.
