The amazing composition of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the prolific and influential composer of the Classical era has already mesmerized us. But, this time around the compositions are targeted to microorganisms. Yes, you got it correct, “microorganisms”. A German-based pioneering sewage plant plays Mozart to its biomass-eating microbes in a hope to increase the speed and efficiency of waste break down.
The company says that it played Mozart’s compositions on an expensive stereo and the sonic waves of the music with oxygen stimulated the microorganisms to break down biosolids more efficiently. It is anticipated that the whole process could result in save the plant thousands of dollars annually. If claims are to be believed, then the company saves more than twice the amount it uses to run the stereo – $485 a month.
