Audi A3 TDI to travel down California coast on RenDiesel

Well, if you think that Audi is doing it for promoting the A3 TDI or for endorsing RenDiesel, you are on the wrong page for sure. In fact, Audi will drive the biodiesel car down California Coast as part of Green Car Journal’s Green Car of the Year Tour, and that is something that deserves some attention for sure. The tour kicks off on Oct. 18 in Eureka, Calif.

Rentech’s synthetic RenDiesel biofuel (made from plant material) meets the petroleum diesel transportation fuel specification; and as such, it requires no modifications to engine, power train, or other supporting components. Rentech gasifies plant material into carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and then transforms it into hydrocarbon fuel for modern vehicles. The Audi A3 TDIs would achieve 40 mpg using RenDiesel while producing 50 percent less emissions to give the Audi A3 TDIs a lower net carbon footprint.
