Fashion knows no bounds. Designers can even make the weirdest thing on the face of this earth look stylish. A designers mind does not only stop till fabric but has even explored other materials. Maria Cornejo has found style even in audio tapes.

The fabric that she uses to stitch shimmery and chic outfits has been obtained from tapes that had been discarded. The eye-appealing and green fabric has been christened as Sonic.

Maria feels that whatever people claim is eco-friendly is actually not 100%. She feels it is not really possible to create stuff that is over all environment-friendly but this has never stopped her from giving in her best. She tries and incorporates all the green materials in her designs. The designer uses recycled fabric as well as vegetable-dyed leather to send a ‘clean and green’ message. Sonic does not look dull at all and is quite vivid. One can design both evening and everyday wear dresses out of it and embrace the green material. The designer works with organic cottons to hand-knits and the most amazing part is even First Lady Michelle Obama is a big fan of her concepts and materials used.

According to Maria Cornejo,

I think to be totally ‘eco’ is practically impossible. Think about investment pieces; something that you love and you want to keep for a while, Disposable fashion isn’t very ‘eco.
We’re getting this amazing fabric which is made out of tape…audio tapes, it’s called ‘Sonic.’ Little things matter, like the fact that something doesn’t have to travel halfway across the world, Whatever baby steps we can all take makes a difference.
