Conceived for some untouched forest location behind the Asplunds crematorium building, in Stockholm, Sweden, the proposed Forest Crematorium will be a green utility building with a religious or contemplative presence. The project, which is the brainchild of Blarke Ingels Group, will integrate itself to the overall Woodland Cemetery composition.
The project will flaunt three inter-connected paths that would reach the site; two for pedestrian paths that cross each other and one for vehicles. The two intersecting paths will sprout from the soil to create four sloping roofs that will accommodate the four elements of the cremation process in a loop. Within these paths, a small courtyard will proffer natural daylight and fresh air.
