Specifically conceived for the parched American Southwest, the ambitious project named Coupling Infrastructures will seek to build a series of dams, aqueducts, water banks and canals along the Colorado River Water Basin. The green project envisioned by Toronto-based Lateral Office/InfraNet Lab will supply enough water to the future populations residing in the area for routine applications. The project will encompass the Imperial Valley and terminal Salton Sea to couple vibrant cultures with threatened ecosystems.
The futuristic proposal includes the creation of three new primary marina cities along the Salton Sea edge. The three cities will cater to the productive, recreational, and wild elements of the region. Certain deployable buoyant pools within the sea will maintain different levels of salinity to boost everything ranging from recreation to harvest. The pools will passively separate water and salt to promote a regional water economy.
