A German-based international design office Logon has proposed to revamp the urban design of China’s southeastern industrial district Qingpu. The design office proposed to create an urban landscape, which will enhance the urban development with a definite focus on sustainability. The construction will be an ecologically sustainable system marked with plants, water, and land. A Path of Experience will go across these elements up to 4m above ground.

A bus and a deck for river transportation will connect the site to the surrounding urban areas. A trench-like mechanism will prohibit vehicle access around the site. Only pedestrians are allowed on the site and access is restricted to the three-dimensional path, activity spaces and platforms. The entire, flattened area will be surrounded with hills that protect the inner area from the frequent river floods.

Rainwater harvesting, natural filter systems, wastewater utilization, and runoff water recycling will nourish the park during the dry seasons. Moreover, river water (or city gray water) will provide natural irrigation when directed into the wetlands.
