The “Do Nothing Machine” was perhaps the most appropriate name for a toy crafted beyond its times. It was developed in an age when humans had only begun using their brains towards something genuinely useful as creating clean energy using the power of the sun. Devised by the great American architect Charles Eames in 1958, the toy is a legacy created as a result of ingenious tinkering with notions baffling to their age. It was meant to do nothing for its times but it did present the vision of an age powered by the energy of the sun. Eames “Do Nothing Machine” holds a small solar engine that generates power to spin a small universe of brightly colored toys.
