Have you ever dreamed of living in a city that confines itself in a few square feet space? Yin Xiuzhen has created one out of recycled clothes, suitcases, lights, maps, magnifying glasses, etc, and has detained it in a suitcase. Dubbed as Portable Art, the city is on display in Beijing. In subduing the skyscrapers and towers, the artist seeks to have power over the things created by humans.
Each of the buildings, bridges, greenscapes, and other structures, which detail a particular city, are made from materials found in that specific city. The “portable cities” series reveals that each of the cities is an inseparable part of a larger community that we call world.
