Recycling that too keeping all the uniqueness and pleasing aspects alive is an art in itself. Making good use of old and discarded materials is Cynthia Jensen, who studied art at the California College of Arts in Oakland and at College of Marin. Beaming with wall hangings and sculptures is her art studio at School Street Plaza, solely prepared out of left-over, thrown and second-hand material.
With an aspiration to craft split, uneven and skeleton like forms, she likes to exploit materials that don’t harm the nature. Bringing together all the stuff (steel and plastic) she collects from coastlines, near the wilderness and economic shops, Jensen tries to slot in Buddhist values in her work.
She is at present showcasing her pieces made from porcelain tagged realistic sculptures of rusty cans, at the Falkirk Cultural Center in San Rafael. Such green ideas will not only make the world a better place to live in, but will also decorate your homes like never before.
