Jerry cans modded into eco friendly portable speakers

Can Speakers

Osama Bin Laden may be dead (presumably) but the war for control of oil-rich states with non-democratic governments is still going strong. For you and me, that just means we will not only have to continue footing the bill for our armies’ overseas missions but also pay extra for every gallon of fuel, which combined with recessions and inflation means that Jerry Cans all over the world may soon find themselves being used for doing things other than store gasoline. Just like this cute little pair of portable speakers that is modded from a pair of fuel canisters.

Created by designer Ben Parker of Bedfordshire-based studio Reestore, the innovation follows in the eco-smart footsteps of creations like the Light Tank and helps users integrate seemingly industrial looking products into their décor. The upcycled cans have been created to merge function with form without leaving behind a huge ecological footprint that most speaker sets made from scratch can incur in the manufacturing process.

The charming yet functional pair of speakers comes with built-in handles and insulation (also made from recycled materials) that help the portable speakers achieve optimum sound quality while the vibrant and amusing form tickles onlookers with its frank and unapologetically modernist form.

Vibrant color options for Jerry Portable Speakers include a glossy black, a pristine white, a spring-inspired apple green, a bubbly cheeky pink, a somber duck egg blue, a Halloween-ish pumpkin orange and sexy cherry red, and a pair of these retails at £285.
