A graduate student from Columbia University has prepared a concept based on American physicist Dr. David Criswell’s proposal for a Lunar Solar Power System. The system envisages collection of solar energy on the lunar surface using photovoltaic converters and beaming the same to the earth, where a set of receivers would capture these microwave beams for subsequent supply of commercial electricity to regional power grids.

This massive astral power tower has also won the 2010 Moon Capital International Design Challenge and is believed to continuously provide about two kilowatts of electricity per person. However with huge construction constraints blocking the way the project seems unfeasible in the near future.
