The Bell Group, an Albuquerque-based industrial distributor recently unveiled New Mexico’s largest solar array. The project implementation team included SCHOTT Solar PV, Inc., Affordable Solar Group and VE Group, the prime contractor with offices in New Mexico and Colorado. Spread over five acres of Bell Group headquarters’ parking structure, the 1.1-megawatt solar power system incorporates more than 5,000 solar modules that are capable of generating more than 1,600,000 kWh of clean electricity annually.

The solar modules locally made by SCHOTT Solar PV will reduce nearly 1,125 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The project will produce enough energy to meet 80 percent of the company’s electricity needs. Not only will the project bring a significant number of jobs in the Albuquerque region, but also provide shaded parking for employee and visitor vehicles under the hot New Mexico sun.
