Aiming to be a 75,000 Mw plus company by 2017, India’s largest power generation company National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) proposes to install a 500MW renewable energy project in Orissa, India. With a number of wind and solar energy units pooled under the project, the proposal will seek to decrease India’s reliance on conventional sources of energy: coal and gas, to name a few.

The company has sent an MOU draft to Orissa government and is still waiting for approval to establish the power plant in the coastal state. As the state government has shown inclination to attract investors to explore untapped potential in wind and solar energy sectors, NTPC is hopeful of getting the sanction very soon.
