In the recent years, Fred Conlon has made quite a name for himself for creations that add altogether a different connotation to cast-off snippets. Now this time at the Oklahoma Arts Festival, same sculptor is transforming redundant military metal into some arresting pieces of art.
The recycled art is a sort of homage to those war heroes who lost their lives fighting for their respective countries. Fred keeps visiting Army and Navy surplus stores to fetch him his recycled material: nuts, bolts and what not. Fred says:
I am taking something once used in combat and turning it into a more peaceful item. Giving it a second chance if you will.
Aside from fulfilling the artist in him, the unique art helps Fred support his family as well.
