Sprint Nextel again gains attention rolling out one more advanced eco-friendly smartphone after the success of its previous phones of similar feature. The new Sprint green phone is manufactured by the South Korean technology builder Samsung and is aptly named Samsung Replenish. Two of the cellular carrier’s previous green phones were also from Samsung – Reclaim and Restore. Sprint also unveiled an LG Remark in the green smartphone category. The new green phone from Sprint highlights a solar battery recharging facility and a set of green apps.

Sprint’s Samsung Replenish becomes a green phone as 82 percent of the hardware is made of recyclable materials and 34 percent of the recycled plastic housing. Certainly, Samsung Replenish carries no PVC or brominated flame retardants. The Sprint’s latest green phone will run on Google Android 2.2 Froyo. The device will sport a QWERTY keypad, 2.8-inch QVGA display and connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.

The phone is priced at $49.9, but for its solar panel battery recharge facility, an extra $30 needs to be paid. The telecom carrier has extended a stunning offer for data connectivity for the device. Samsung Replenish users require to pay only $10 for a month, of course, a green data plan. That is why the Sprint Nextel’s CEO Dan Hesse says that the device will pay back the money for a customer in five months. Further, Samsung Replenish will carry Sprint’s Green ID pack and green apps from TreeHugger and GreenBiz.com.

Apart from unveiling green phones, the cellular service provider extends better emphasis for phone recycling. The company is ready to send postage paid envelopes to its users to send back old or discarded phones for recycling. Of course, Sprint can use such phones to build new phones.
