KH Home and BYD, a manufacturer of clean energy technologies unveiled a new house calling which the house of the future would be wrong. After taking approval for its construction, the duo broke ground for this green house in March. Located in KB Home’s Alamosa community in West Lancaster, the futuristic house is powered by batteries and solar panels. It is also equipped with a smog-eating roof.

The 1519-square-foot home meets terms with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star guidelines. It comes loaded with green features like BYD’s solar panels, energy storage batteries and LED lights. The electric vehicle outlet is used to charge BYD’s F3DM and e6 electric vehicles. In an effort to reduce pollution, the duo used roof tiles that have an embedded catalyst that when exposed to sunlight, speeds up oxidation and reduces the nitrogen oxide pollution that creates smog.
