‘The Razor’ in London is world’s first skyscraper with built in wind turbine

We have come across plenty of building designs which incorporate self sustaining power generating features only after primary construction. ‘The Razor’ a 143 meters tall building in Central London has successfully broken the mould. It has become the first skyscraper in the world with electricity generating wind turbine built into its core design.

The building design integrates three 19KW wind turbines expected to generate 50 MWh of electricity annually. The self sustaining feature will help meet 8% of the buildings energy needs. More so the turbines use 5 instead of 3 blades to help reduce noise pollution.

Standing 42 stories tall and constantly battered by wind speeds of up to140 mph, the Razor makes a perfect spot to try some green features.
