On the second annual National Solar Day, i.e. June 19, the South Plantation High School’s Solar Knights Racing Team allowed about 50 elementary- and middle school-kids to learn about the actual working of Solar Knight 1. It’s the first solar powered car built by the team. Aside from seeing solar panel in action, kids also took a stroll on the Knight’s two solar powered vehicles.

Solar Knight team member Paige Swalley, 17, says…

If we teach them, they’ll be able to teach other kids later on. It gets the ball rolling so that those kids can teach other kids … and hopefully we can correct the mistakes of previous generations.

A solar array that serves as the roof of the car charges a set of batteries in the back of the car. Considering the enormous injustice done to environment by BP, the sponsors of the event Advanced Roofing believe that it’s the right time to talk about and switch to solar-derived energy.
