The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is fast approaching. Scheduled to be held from October 20th to October 28th, 2012 the excitement is growing only higher by the day. Continuing with its tradition of last five years TIFF this year as well has an Eco-Friendly Green Carpet for the event. The carpet like the last 5 years has been made by ‘Teijin Limited’. The festival works on the ecologically minded ethos and hence this Eco-friendly green carpet. Teijin is a technology-driven global group and is committed towards offering advanced solutions in the areas of sustainable transportation, information and electronics, safety and protection, environment and energy, and health-care.
Making of the Eco-Friendly ‘Green Carpet’
Teijin has made an Eco-Friendly carpet for the event 5th year in a row. The carpet is made of PET(polyethylene terephthalate) bottles. The ECOPET recycled fiber that has been used for making this carpet has been made from used PET bottles. The size of the carpet is 1800 cm X 900 cm. Along with the green carpet nearly 51,000 re-cycled half litre pet bottles will be used for the event. In the last 5 years about 143,000 half liter pet bottles have been used to make a carpet for the event. The events traditional red carpet was replaced by the green carpet produced by Teijin five years ago.
Other Green Products at the Event
For the eco-friendly Tokyo Film Festival just a Green Carpet is not enough. There are a host of other Green products that have been made for the guests. All the products have been tailor-made by Teijin for the ‘Tokyo International Film Festival’. The good news is, majority of all the Green Products have been made using re-cycled PET bottles.
ñ Green Coasters have been made using the PET bottles. These coasters have been made to distribute to customers on the Toei subway. This distribution of coasters ia a part of the TIFF promotional activity.
ñ Teijin has also produced Green Ties and Green-chiefs (basically Eco-friendly handkerchiefs) for the guests at the TIFF festival.
ñ Teijin has also manufactured Green Jackets for the festival staff workers.
ñ Reusable Eco-bags have been made for guests attending the ‘Green-Tie Banquet’.
All of the above mentioned Green Products have been produced by Tiejin for the TIFF Event. The products have been made with the help of ECO CIRCLE FIBRES.
What are Eco Circle Fibers?
These Eco Circle Fibers are made from recycled and used polyester bottles and polyester products. These products are chemically converted into fibers. These fibers are made from Teijin’s patent closed loop recycling system. These Eco Circle Fibers are as strong as the regular fibers. The regular fibers are usually made from petroleum and petroleum products. Carpets and products made using Eco Circle Fibers are both environment friendly and economical.
Teijin announced the making of the carpet on 20th September, 2012 for the festival scheduled to commence from 20th October, 2012. The company has been associated with the ‘Tokyo International Film Festival’ since past five years. This is not the first time that green products will be part of the festival. The organizers of the festival too are inclined towards conducting the event in a green way. The red carpet was for the first time replaced with the eco-friendly green carpet five years back at the festival. Since then they have continued their green endeavor. Teijin has been associated with the festival for five years now and helped them realize their dream of having the festival the green way. What started out as just replacing the red carpet with the eco-friendly green version has now come a long way in these five years. In these five years a host of green products have been evolved for various events at the festival. Right from promotions to gifts for guest the theme has gone green.
