Southwest Florida’s Green Team takes pride in announcing the most energy conscious ride in the country on a limited edition, 298 horsepower Tesla Roadster powered with 900 pounds of high voltage batteries that run on solar power alone. So when Reed Wilson claims that his Roadster does not use an electric socket, we feel like enquiring how he made it happen.
It’s going to be a thing of the future. We’ve been driving around in internal combustion engines for 120 years and we have to make a transformation to alternative energy because we’ve got a limited amount of fossil fuel.
Wilson wished to prove what he says. Therefore, he bought the car just a week ago. He powers his green car with the help of some 70 solar panels that are installed on the roof of his company’s building. The panels generate 12 kilowatts of power every day, which is then converted into alternating current power via inverters. Next, he plugs the car in for a three hours’ recharge.
His altered Tesla Roadster is “very, very fast! Compared to a Ferrari, it goes 0-60 in a second less.”
