A 7-year-old kid raises money for Haitian children using pedal power

A 7-year-old child showed the world that little children are in no way less than grownups when it comes to being humble and generous. London’s Charlie Simpson felt strongly about the Haitian children who are suffering from the destruction caused by the recent earthquake. He decided to help the needful children by performing a sponsored cycle ride to raise money for the survivors.

Charlie set a goal of raising at least £500, but was pleasantly surprised to have collected more that £150,000. All this money has gone to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF is providing clean water for 235,000 people at hospitals and other sites around the hardest-hit city, the capital Port-au-Prince, and hopes to scale up the water distribution significantly.

In order to collect the money, this little kid had to take seven rounds of a local park last Sunday. Not only did he get success in getting money from the locals, but also received donations from far-flung places including Hong Kong and New Zealand. It is overwhelming to see a small kid make such a bold and innovative move.
