Adelaide invests in eight stormwater harvesting projects

stormwater harvesting

The Federal government of Australia today publicized that it has approved to back several conservation projects throughout Adelaide. Eight stormwater harvesting projects will get benefits from this initiative. After receiving support from the government, the projects will more than triple the annual stormwater harvest from the current six billion liters to more than 20 billion liters.

An estimated $65 million will come from federal funding, $45 million from the South Australian Government and local government and other sources will make some $40 million contribution. We are living in times where water scarcity is one of the major problems faced globally. So, investing in alternative water supplies and coming up with projects to use water ingeniously is the requirement of the hour. The water that will be harvested by these projects will contribute in meeting with Adelaide’s water needs and could be used for ovals and parks.
