It’s interesting to note how things that we cast off can be revived into a work of art by someone. Most of us have up on bikes, exploring the entire neighborhood with our friends. But, once we are adult, bikes are a thing of the past. They get replaced by the meaner vehicles such as the motor bikes or cars. And our old bikes are left to rot in the junkyards.
If you ever happen to walk to the Barcroft Park, in Arlington, Virginia, the bike counter made out of old bikes would surely grab your attention. The bike counter is a unique piece of art used for selling bikes on two days of the week. Designed by the artist Butch Anthony from Alabama, the bike art is quite folksy and at a complete peace with the surrounding. From recycled metals, street signs, discarded wheels of bikes to license plates, you would find everything in this local public art. There are also a few sculptures of creepy little dragon flies.
Sitting in the public park, the twisted metal rod structure, if not for aesthetics, at least for its uniqueness would surely make you take a second look at it. It is a beautiful example of art made from recycled materials, and thanks to the awesome use of bike wheels, which completely enhances the whole appearance of this sculpture.
